This recently discovered cache of photos were taken during Christine’s AIT at Fort Dix, NJ from January to March 1975. From there, she was set to Bangkok, Thailand for the fall of Saigon and the Mayaguez Incident.

During AIT at Fort Dix, NJ we weren’t allowed to take photos during the training process.
However, after hours was a different matter. If you think I’m obnoxious taking pictures now, imagine how my poor fellow trainees must have felt as I snapped photos of them before the word “selfie” was invented, and before the world was its own Big Brother. ![]()

The reason Christine included this image of her fellow trainee Vicki, is for anyone who was ever stationed at Fort Dix to see the wall mural, wondering if it looked familiar to anyone who spent time in a barracks rec room there.
