Taking a delicious peek at two bakeries in Erie’s little Italy ~ Each one has been open for over a century!
Majestic Bakery, 1501 Walnut St. was built in 1887 and open since 1915. When we were kids visiting grandma in little Italy, it was Majestic Bakery’s tantalizing aromas that compelled us to stop there after Mass at St. Paul’s and and grab a loaf or two. Sometimes they were still warm. Aaah, and those long paper bags that held the warm loaves with crispy tops.
The thought of introducing that lovely fresh bread to a stick of room-temperature butter made us walk home all the faster. . .

“Majestic Bakery was built in 1887, open since 1915. We bought it in 2019 and are carrying on the legacy of making great bread,” according to https://www.majesticbaking.co/history#:~:text=Majestic%20Bakery%20was%20built%20in,legacy%20of%20making%20great%20bread.

I remember my parents taking us to International Bakery for those fancy nougat candies in little boxes on very special occasions
