1893 wooden schooner “Lettie G Howard” crosses paths with another U. S. tall ship the “Pride of Baltimore” in choppy waters at the 2025 Tall Ship festival in Erie, PA. The “Lettie G” has been based at Erie for the past several years, offering local cruises to the public. The blue flag with white lettering proclaims: “Don’t Give Up the Ship,” famous words spoken by naval hero Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry as he won the Battle of Lake Erie in 1813.
