Waterford Covered Bridge, aka “The Kissing Bridge”

A group poses for photographs on this historic covered bridge, one of two remaining in Erie County. It was built in 1875 by the Phelps Brothers. You might notice a raindrop here and there, but the weather didn’t get in the way of photographing one of Erie County’s two remaining covered bridges.

This is a is a single-lane Town lattice truss covered bridge that spans LeBoeuf Creek in Waterford Township. It measures 85′ and 11″ in length, and is 15 feet, one inch wide.

It’s one of only 19 Town lattice truss covered bridges in Pennsylvania and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It was restored and re-opened in November 2024 after being closed down for years in a state of ruin and dilapidation.

Also known as The Kissing Bridge, this historic thoroughfare had been closed before restoration work began in 2024. This image was taken in 2013.

Find it at 695-699 Neimeyer Road, Waterford
