Opened in 1931, this downtown Erie landmark rarely ceases to amaze those who are fortunate to cross its opulent threshold. As of this writing on May 31, 2021, the Warner is temporarily closed due to renovation. The images presented here with assistance from Michael Morgan, were captured between 2015 and 2019.
The Warner’s elaborate marquee is surrounded by ornate architectural embellishments with an inky black sky backdrop.Pink marble pillars and a ceiling painted with liquid gold make this palace from the past a highly desirable place for special events like weddings and elaborate performances. The interior archway above the theater’s main entrance is draped in velvet curtains above a wall of mirrors, surrounded by intricately delightful designs. This outdoor ticket booth has withstood some terribly harsh winters over the past 90 years, but it survives to tell its tale with yesteryear decadence and fortune-teller-esque tasseled curtains.Thick velvet curtains, oversized tassels, mesmerizing tapestries and detailed designs all serve the Warner’s bygone era ambiance.
