Watch “Lazarus The Legend,” the 1993 award-winning cult classic movie produced in Erie, PA

Erie, PA Movie-maker Matthew J. Frazzini created “Lazarus The Legend” 30 years ago as a spoof on every kung fu movie he’d ever watched. It aired on Erie’s Public Access cable TV channel. Videotaped entirely on location here in Erie, this full-length feature took the top spot for “Best Screenplay” in the Hometown Video Awards held in Atlanta, GA in 1993. Local resident Dale Crawford offers a compelling performance as Lazarus.

Many of the locations utilized in the making of this movie look very different now. Those places are, in order of appearance:

  • Clifford Drive ~ Millcreek
  • East Bayfront Street *East Bayfront railroad tracks
  • Concrete tube near Wintergreen Gorge
  • Wayne Park
  • Presque Isle Beach
  • East Slip at Bayfront near Smugglers

All cast members are local and each is named in the movie’s closing credits, so if you see someone you think you recognize you can check there. Also, please disregard the phone number showing at the end of the movie.

This cult classic is listed with the International Movie Data Base at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6866294/

Frazzini, who was my brother, was killed in a 2009 car accident at age 47.
